Interactive installation
Instalacja pt. „Instrument” mogłaby też mieć tytuł "Duet” albo "Utwór
na dwa instrumenty”. Rezygnujemy z liczby mnogiej aby podkreślić
jedność/spójność instalacji. Dwa instrumenty, chociaż bardzo się
różniące, stanowią całość, której dwoje lub jeden grający nadają życie
uruchamiając zarówno dźwięk jak i tworząc obraz. Instalacja ta jest
formą dialogu. Na początku, w fazie jej powstawania, był to dialog
miedzy nami.
Domeną Grzegorza jest film, fotografia i nowe media. Jako część
instalacji stworzył obraz elektroniczny, który istnieje i zmienia się
dzięki aktywności widza. Podstawa mojej działalności twórczej to
malarstwo. Ostatnio fascynuje mnie możliwość wzbogacania malarstwa
poprzez użycie środków elektronicznych - stąd w instalacji obecność
obrazu na płótnie, który widz może kształtować wydobywając światło i
dźwięk. Obydwa instrumenty łączy tzw. pająk (w żargonie komputerowym).
To rodzaj szkicu odsłaniający proces programowania jak i nasze
skojarzenia oraz inspiracje towarzyszące powstawaniu tej pracy. Samo
wyrażenie - program komputerowy - (będący podstawową składową naszej
instalacji) przywołuje określoność, determinizm, brak możliwości wyjścia
poza przewidziane ramy, może nawet i brak wolności. Patrzymy na to
inaczej – artysta programując daje widzowi narzędzie, sposób na
poruszanie się po pewnym terytorium dla stworzenia nowej indywidualnej
wartości. Interesuje nas czy posługując się tak określonym medium możemy
dotknąć poezji, nieprzewidywalności, fantazji i zabawy ?
This installation, entitled “Instrument” could equally well be called
“Duet” or “Composition for Two Instruments”. We have given up the plural
to emphasize unity / coherence of the installation. The two instruments,
even though very different, make a whole, to which one or two people
playing it give life both by activating sound and creating image. This
installation is a form of a dialogue. Initially, in its emergence phase,
it was a dialogue between us. Grzegorz's domain is film, photography and
new media. As his part of the installation he created an electronic
image which exists and changes with viewer's activity. My art is based
on painting. Recently I've been fascinated by possibility to enhance
painting by use of electronic means – hence the installation includes a
painting on canvas, which can shaped by the viewer bringing out sound
and light. The two instruments are connected with the so called “spider”
(in the computer jargon). It is a kind of a drawing that reveals the
programming process as well as our associations and inspirations
accompanying creation of this work. The term itself – a computer program
– (which makes the fundamental component of our installation) invokes
specificity, determinism, impossibility to go beyond defined frames, or
maybe even lack of freedom. We have a different view on it – by
programming, the artists gives the viewer a tool, a way to move around a
certain territory to create a new, individual value. We are curious if
by using such a precisely defined medium one can touch upon poetry,
unpredictability, fantasy and amusement?
